Encouraging Truths Devotional Series (Day #2)

Your identity as a believer in Jesus Christ

The busyness and troubles in this world and the attacks of the enemy make us often forget the wonderful truth of who we truly are as believers in Jesus Christ the Lord. Here is a partial list from Scripture to remind you of your identity, blessings, and what God has done for you.

Be encouraged and don’t forget who you are and what God has done for you!

YOU ARE

VERSE

Created in God’s image

So God created man in His own image; He created him in the image of God; He created them male and female. (Gen 1:27)

Eternally secure in God

I give them eternal life, and they will never perish—ever! No one will snatch them out of My hand. My Father, who has given them to Me, is greater than all. No one is able to snatch them out of the Father’s hand. (John 10:28-29)

He predestined us to be adopted through Jesus Christ for Himself, according to His favor and will (Eph 1:5)

A temple of the Holy Spirit

Don’t you yourselves know that you are God’s sanctuary and that the Spirit of God lives in you? (1 Cor 3:16)

Part of the body of Christ

Now you are the body of Christ, and individual members of it. (1 Cor 12:27)

Seated with Jesus in the heavens

…seated us with Him in the heavenly places … (Eph 2:6 – ESV)

Reconciled, holy, faultless, blameless

But now He has reconciled you by His physical body through His death, to present you holy, faultless, and blameless before Him (Col 1:22)

Raised with Jesus by the Father

Having been buried with Him in baptism, you were also raised with Him through faith in the working of God, who raised Him from the dead. (Col 2:12)

Made alive with Jesus and forgiven

He made you alive with Him and forgave us all our trespasses. He erased the certificate of debt, with its obligations, that was against us and opposed to us, and has taken it out of the way by nailing it to the cross.(Col 2:13-14)

Hidden with the Messiah

For you have died, and your life is hidden with the Messiah in God. (Col 3:3)

Crucified with Christ. Now Christ lives in you.

I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me. (Gal 2:20)

Crucified to the world and the world to you

The world has been crucified to me through the cross, and I to the world.  (Gal 6:14b)

Remember who you are in Christ no matter what your told, what the devil whispers in your ear, or what you think.

Highlight or make a note of anything that made a positive impact on you. Is there a verse that would be helpful to memorize?
