Are You of the World or of the Lord? You Can’t Be Both…

Are you of the world or of the Lord?  You can’t be both!  The evidence of your life speaks for itself.

For the rest of this post, I will let God do all the talking…

Matthew 6:24“No one can serve two masters, for either he will hate the one and love the other, or he will be devoted to the one and despise the other.  You cannot serve God and money.”

John 15:19“If you were of the world, the world would love you as its own; but because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.“

Romans 12:2“Do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewal of your mind, that by testing you may discern what is the will of God, what is good and acceptable and perfect.”

Galatians 6:14“But far be it from me to boast except in the cross of our Lord Jesus Christ, by which the world has been crucified to me, and I to the world.”

Philippians 3:20“But our citizenship is in heaven, and from it we await a Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ.”

Colossians 3:2“Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.”

James 1:27“Religion that is pure and undefiled before God, the Father, is this: to visit orphans and widows in their affliction, and to keep oneself unstained from the world.”

James 4:4“You adulterous people!  Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Therefore whoever wishes to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God.“

2 Peter 2:20“For if, after they have escaped the defilements of the world through the knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, they are again entangled in them and overcome, the last state has become worse for them than the first.”

1 John 2:15-17“Do not love the world or the things in the world.  If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him.  For all that is in the world—the desires of the flesh and the desires of the eyes and pride in possessions—is not from the Father but is from the world.  And the world is passing away along with its desires, but whoever does the will of God abides forever.”

1 John 3:13“Do not be surprised, brothers, that the world hates you.”
