Will the New U.S. Administration Lead to the “Trumpence” Blowing?

But we do not want you to be uninformed, brethren, about those who are asleep, so that you will not grieve as do the rest who have no hope.  For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so God will bring with Him those who have fallen asleep in Jesus.  For this we say to you by the word of the Lord, that we who are alive and remain until the coming of the Lord, will not precede those who have fallen asleep.  For the Lord Himself will descend from heaven with a shout, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first.  Then we who are alive and remain will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air, and so we shall always be with the Lord. Therefore comfort one another with these words.”  (1 Thess 4:13-18)

Behold, I tell you a mystery; we will not all sleep, but we will all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last trumpet; for the trumpet will sound, and the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.  For this perishable must put on the imperishable, and this mortal must put on immortality.  But when this perishable will have put on the imperishable, and this mortal will have put on immortality, then will come about the saying that is written, “Death is swallowed up in victory.  O death, where is your victory?  O death, where is your sting?”  The sting of death is sin, and the power of sin is the law; but thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.  Therefore, my beloved brethren, be steadfast, immovable, always abounding in the work of the Lord, knowing that your toil is not in vain in the Lord.  (1 Corinthians 15:51-58)

What does a Trump-Pence administration mean in light of Scripture?  This post will attempt to address this.

Firstly, where is the United States in Bible prophecy?  The answer is: America is not mentioned directly and specifically.  We are covered by general prophecies that relate to all nations.  Beyond that, our end time destiny is a matter of speculation.  Many use eisegesis to try to figure this out.  Please don’t do that, as you will be in danger of making the Bible say something it does not say (see article: http://reachinghigherwithmeyer.blogspot.com/2016/08/eisegesis-dont-do-it.html).

We can, however, reasonably deduce according to Scripture, that the U.S. ceases to be a world power at the end. Therefore, it will play no significant role in end time events.  If it did, it would be mentioned as other nations are clearly mentioned.  How it ceases to be a super power…people could suspect the reasons.  I have a couple of suspicions myself. But only God truly knows.

It is undeniable that the clock marches closer and closer to the end of this Age every single second that passes.  That is a fact.  When that end comes; well, no man knows (Matt 24:36; Mark 13:32; Acts 1:7).  Realizing this is true, and at the same time knowing we have a new president and vice-president that assert they are going to make America great again; do these ideas successfully go-together?  Well, maybe they do.  And maybe they don’t.  Simply put, if one believes the end-times are coming sooner rather than later, the answer is “no.”  America must come down off its lofty position on the world stage.  Now, if a person assumes the end-times are far off, then yes – America can have a good run or two left within her.  So the ultimate answer is – we just don’t know.  Scripture is silent on the matter of the United States of America.

What do we know?  Well, we know the signs of the times.  And we are commanded to be aware of these signs (Matt 24:3-9, 36-42, 42-51; 25:1-13; Mark 13:33-37; Luke 12:35-40; 21:34-36).  Quite frankly, there is absolutely nothing preventing the Lord from coming back at any moment.  Again, that does not mean He is coming back very soon, although I realize many long for His immediate return.  I do.  But then I remember what the apostle Paul said about this exact same topic, “But I am hard-pressed from both directions, having the desire to depart and be with Christ, for that is very much better; yet to remain on in the flesh is more necessary for your sake.  Convinced of this, I know that I will remain and continue with you all for your progress and joy in the faith” (Phil 1:23-25).  Every generation, even going back to the early body of believer’s (see the book of Thessalonians), had an expectation of the Lord’s soon return.  So far – none have been right!  We need to be very, very careful on predictions relating to this matter.

With Trump and Pence coming on the scene, especially highlighted in the inauguration events, we potentially can see a flare-up of Ecumenicalism (a promoting or tending toward worldwide religious unity or cooperation).  Just look at the inaugural prayers as a perfect example of diverse teachings seemingly working together (see video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TvZSWyepSPA).   And by the way, one-world religion is already no stranger to Evangelicalism (see article: http://reachinghigherwithmeyer.blogspot.com/2017/01/book-review-evangelicalism-divided.html).  It has been permeating the evangelical movement for a while, and seemingly picking up speed, as evidenced by current events.   For goodness sake, the Roman Catholic Church has been pushing it, especially since Vatican II.  The Unitatis Redintegratio, A Decree on Ecumenism in 1964 is direct and clear evidence of this.  And the current pope…need I say more on this topic (see his actual prayer: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6FfTxwTX34).  We know one-world religion is an absolute necessity in the Tribulation (the last 7 years of human rule) and during end-time events.  It does seem like the “Ecumenical train” is picking up some speed, not just in the U.S., but all around the world.  Check out the World Council of Churches as definitive evidence of this claim  (https://www.oikoumene.org/en/member-churches).

To be sure, can someone make a strong case that Psalm 83, Isaiah 17, Ezekiel 38-39, Zechariah 12 (just to name a few prophecies) and all the end-times prophecies are close to fulfillment?  Personally, my persuasion is “yes.”  However, no man knows when the Son of Man will come to claim His elect (1 Thess 5:9).  But make no mistake; it is not a matter of “if”, but only a matter of “when” (see article: http://reachinghigherwithmeyer.blogspot.com/2013/09/the-raptureits-clearly-not-matter-of-if.html)!

So we have the prophetic word made more sure, to which you do well to pay attention as to a lamp shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star arises in your hearts.  But know this first of all, that no prophecy of Scripture is a matter of one’s own interpretation, for no prophecy was ever made by an act of human will, but men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.  (2 Peter 1:19-21)

So what are true children of God supposed to do?  Be watchful and prepared! (see article: http://reachinghigherwithmeyer.blogspot.com/2014/07/be-watchful-and-preparedthe-time-of.html)

Will the new U.S. Administration lead to the “trumpence” blowing?  I don’t know!  But I wouldn’t be shocked if somehow it did, according to the signs of the times.  But it wouldn’t be the first time I was wrong either. Stay tuned, especially to the events surrounding Israel.  Listen closely for the specific words, “peace and security” (1 Thess 5:3).  They are already being heard…https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NmvQgmCyO9g.

Now as to the times and the epochs, brethren, you have no need of anything to be written to you.  For you yourselves know full well that the day of the Lord will come just like a thief in the night.  While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly like labor pains upon a woman with child, and they will not escape.  But you, brethren, are not in darkness, that the day would overtake you like a thief;  for you are all sons of light and sons of day.  We are not of night nor of darkness; so then let us not sleep as others do, but let us be alert and sober.  For those who sleep do their sleeping at night, and those who get drunk get drunk at night.  But since we are of the day, let us be sober, having put on the breastplate of faith and love, and as a helmet, the hope of salvation.  For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ, who died for us, so that whether we are awake or asleep, we will live together with Him.  (1 Thess 5:1-10)
